Icky Old Tests

Some not so brilliant person decided that state testing should begin the day after Easter. Gotta love testing weeks.  Fortunately, first grade doesn’t have to take those icky old state tests, but we still feel the pressure to prepare our kiddos for their future. My school is wonderful and we alway test very well, but before the test each year, our teachers do something to remind the kids of how smart and wonderful they are.  Last year it was a Wizard of OAT (Ohio Achievement Test) performance that was wonderful! The year before that was American Idol and this year was a Flash Mob.  I can’t tell you how blessed I feel to work with such wonderful, fun people.  (BTW- This is nothing compared what has been done in the past but it was so much fun!)

Check it out! (Oh yeah, the name of the test has again been changed to the OAA)

  1. Unbelievable! I can't wait to show this to my principal. She will love it and I think it is inspirational to see teachers come together to cheer on their kids. Thank you for sharing! My kinders are taking bags of mints to 5th grade and are chanting words of encouragement. I think you are such a rock star!

  2. Wow!!! Awesome 🙂 Our school just finished our state testing the last 2 weeks. We had signs for all the kids to write on, kids that were testing had the chance to earn "effort awards" and those names were put in a drawing for some pretty nice prizes from adm, kids had a special motivational card on their desk every day before their test. It was on their desk as they came in the room.
    Good luck to your school!

  3. Would you be willing to share the lyrics that you used? Flash Mob would be a fun idea for next year!

    Thanks!
