A Sad Day For Us, A Happy Day For Heaven

2 years ago, I was blessed to teach one of the kindest little guys you’d ever meet.  While Jordan was given a heart of gold and the sweetest smile, he was also given a very imperfect body. Jordan lived each day of his life in pain and faced life with courage and remarkable character.  The tumors that consumed his body prevented him from running and playing like other kids, but didn’t prevent him from dreaming.  He dreamed of the day when he’d jump and swing. He dreamed of a life without a wheelchair.  From a very young age, little Jordan dreamed of Heaven.

Yesterday, Jordan left this life and went to a better place.  While I can’t help my selfish urge to want him back, I know that Jordan is finally free.  I feel privileged to have been a part of his life.  I feel so lucky to have seen him smile, to have had the chance to make him laugh, and to have been able to tell him I loved him.  This world lost one of the sweetest souls ever put on earth, but we gained an angel. You’ll be forever missed and forever in our hearts.  We love you Jordan.  Now run and play my sweet friend!

  1. We are made better through the people we meet in this life to prepare us for a better life when we meet them again. What a blessing you were to Jordan and he was to you. Thank you for sharing.

  3. There are no words that seem to give much comfort when a child passes away. Heaven is so excited to have him! No doubt you both changed each others lives for the better. I'm so sorry for your loss!

  4. Sweet Michelle…tears are streaming down my face. What a blessing to have known such a sweet little soul. We lost a first grader last year to cancer, so I can only imagine how you're feeling right now. Prayers abound for Jordan's family…and you too!!! Thanks for sharing his sweet little story 🙂

  5. Children like Jordan teach us way more than we can ever teach them. It brings tears to my eyes thinking of the pain his family (and you) are dealing with. But he is now with God in heaven. Even though that is wonderful, our prayers are with Jordan's family and you. Thank you for sharing this little hero's story.

  6. I have lost many children over the years as a teacher of special children. It comforts me to know that they are now free of the imperfect body they were born into. Each of them made my life a little better for having known them. Keeping you and his family in my prayers.

  9. I am so sorry to hear of your loss and feel your pain. We lost our "little ladybug" to cancer this December. She was wise beyond her years and I was very lucky to have her as a part of my Kindergarten 2 years ago. I will keep you, your school and Jordan's family in my thoughts.
