Meet the Teacher

How excited am I to get to know my bloggy teacher friends better? Pretty darn excited I might say. Cara Carroll at The First Grade Parade is having a linky party! What a great idea Ms. Cara! You are such a smarty pants.

So here it goes…a little bit about me.
This is me.. Both Summer and Winter Versions 🙂
(Have a tan)                                                       (Need a tan)

So, I’m 31 years old and soon to be 32! (Man does that sound old). I graduated from Miami University with an Elementary Ed. 1-8 degree and have a masters in Reading from Xavier University. I’ve been teaching for 10 years. All 10 in first grade and in the same classroom (And as you can tell, I think 1st grade is FAB-U-LOUS!)

I  am married to an amazing man who does dishes, laundry, cleans, fixes things, loves our boys and is an amazing father and hubby. We’ve been married for 7 years and together for 15! Almost half of my life. He’s my high school sweetheart and one true love. Furthermore, he is a police officer and criminalist and is wonderful at what he does.
*Although I’d prefer he use his degree in accounting so I could sleep easier at night.

I also have two adorable little men in my life.  Drew is going to be four (my word!) next week, and Landon is one. They are full of energy and keep me on my toes!

In addition, I have wonderful parents! I don’t know what I would do without them. My mom watches my babies while I teach and I feel so lucky.

I also have a little (well 28 year old) brother who lives in Chicago and is a financial analyst.  He just got engaged to his adorable little fiance’ Jaclyn (a soon to be teacher).

I love, love, love to shop! Especially for shoes and purses. I love spending time with family and friends, scrapbooking and blogging!

Now for the Q & A

Q: What would you be doing if you weren’t a teacher?
A:  Stay-at-home-mom and party/event planner. I can plan a mean party. You should see the first birthday parties I threw. I’m a crazy woman!

Q: What are your hobbies?
A:   Photography, scrapbooking, crafting, shopping and blog stalking.

Q: When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A:  I always wanted to be a teacher. My first grade teacher Mrs. Klein has always been my inspiration. She was amazing! I remember going to a local thrift store that sold teacher manuals for 50 cents and feeling like I’d died and gone to heaven.

Q: What are your guilty pleasures?
A: Diet Coke, Teen Mom {1 & 2}, Real Housewives (all of them, but I really loved the Beverly Hills girls), The Coach store!

Q: What is your biggest fear?!
A: Losing the ones I love. Being in a car accident. (I’m a freakishly defensive driver.) BED BUGS!

Q: When you’re on vacation, where do you like to go?
A: Grand Cayman, Disney World and Vegas!

Q: What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
A:  Be honest, be yourself and be kind.

Q: What do you value most in others?
A: Loyalty and Kindness.

Q: If you could choose one of your personality traits to pass down to your kids, what would it be?
A: My patience. I don’t let things bother me and I try to see the best in others.

Q: If you could have lunch with anyone in the world….living or dead…who would it be?
A:  I would love to have lunch with all of my bloggy teacher friends. Imagine if we all taught in the same school!

Now tell us one random thing about yourself:
I was in the Ms. Teen Arizona pageant. No, I am not a pageant girl. Don’t know what I was thinking, but it was an experience.  I’ve also never eaten seafood. GROSS!!

  1. Ooo!! The Coach store!!! I JUST bought a new coach purse about two weeks ago. Its one of their new Poppy Coach purses 🙂 I'm so in love 🙂 I also just got a thank you card from them with a coupon for 25% off my next visit. I threw it away because it had to be used by the end of February and I knew I wouldn't use it…. and then today I saw it in my husband's wallet.. 🙂 🙂 🙂
